Timothy Kreider

Published by

Timothy Kreider, MD, PhD began his residency training in psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania in June 2011, after graduating from New Jersey Medical School. His interests include child psychiatry, placebo effects, somatization, and neuroethics.

Tim was introduced to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) at campus events sponsored by the student interest group for CAM at his medical school. Guest lecturers promoted acupuncture, homeopathy, naturopathy, or osteopathic manipulation with little critical challenge from students or faculty. Tim’s foray into public writing began with a series of essays in the student newspaper, wherein he characterized several such lectures as inappropriate at a university committed to modern, ethical, evidence-based care. Later he wrote for Science-Based Medicine about these and other experiences with CAM on campus.

Tim’s posts for SBM are archived here.
